What Roblox Did Wrong
For years, families trusted Roblox's marketing as a safe, family-friendly platform. The lawsuits say that was a lie.
Roblox has over 85 million daily active users, the majority of whom are under the age of 13. Despite this, the platform lacked basic safeguards: no meaningful age verification, no adequate content moderation, and chat features that allowed adults to contact children with no parental oversight.
In November 2025, Roblox announced emergency safety changes — including facial age-estimation and chat restrictions between adults and minors — but only after years of lawsuits and regulatory pressure. These changes came too late for thousands of children already harmed.

Iowa joins the legal battle, alleging Roblox was deceptively marketed as safe while facilitating child sexual exploitation and the distribution of CSAM. Arkansas follows with a similar suit.
