What Roblox Did Wrong

Roblox Knew. And Did Nothing.

For years, families trusted Roblox's marketing as a safe, family-friendly platform. The lawsuits say that was a lie.

A January 2026 lawsuit filed by the State of Iowa accused Roblox of being deceptively marketed as safe for children while the platform was actively used by predators to exploit, groom, and abuse minors — including the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Roblox has over 85 million daily active users, the majority of whom are under the age of 13. Despite this, the platform lacked basic safeguards: no meaningful age verification, no adequate content moderation, and chat features that allowed adults to contact children with no parental oversight.

In November 2025, Roblox announced emergency safety changes — including facial age-estimation and chat restrictions between adults and minors — but only after years of lawsuits and regulatory pressure. These changes came too late for thousands of children already harmed.

⚠️ Statutes of limitations vary by state. Some states give families only 2–3 years from the date of harm — or from the date it was discovered — to file a claim. Don't wait.
